Tutankhamun set to dazzle again in London

23rd September 2019 By David Pike Leave a Comment

Tutankhamun set to dazzle again in London – It was one of those memorable occasions that live with you the rest of your life – coming face-to-face with the golden death mask of Tutankhamun.

The star of the show at the Tutankhamun exhibition, staged at the British Museum getting on for half a century ago, it captivated over 1.6m visitors from March to December (the event was extended for three months by popular demand).

Now the most famous name from ancient Egypt’s enduring and illustrious past is back in town as the Saatchi Gallery prepares to host TUTANKHAMUN: Treasures of the Golden Pharaoh.

What will turn out to be the outstanding moment this time round is anyone’s guess but there’s no doubting Tutenkhamun’s appeal will be as great as ever.

In residence at the gallery in King’s Road, London, from Saturday, November 2, 2019 to Sunday, May 3, 2020, the exhibition commemorates the 100th anniversary of the discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb by Howard Carter.

Produced by the Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities, management group IMG and presented by Viking Cruises it will be the final chance to see this collection of 150 astounding world heritage artefacts, dating back over 3,000 years, before they return to Egypt forever.

A new permanent resting place for the treasures is constructed at the Grand Egyptian Museum in Cairo.

Explore the life of King Tutankhamun and the discovery that captivated the world through authentic pieces from the tomb – three times the quantity that has travelled in previous exhibitions – more than 60 of which are travelling outside of Egypt for the first time.

London is the third of 10 cities to host the treasures, following record-setting stops in Los Angeles and Paris.

Sell-outs are expected and advance booking is highly recommended. Tutankhamun: Treasures of the Golden Pharaoh, ticket on sale now.

Shearings Holidays is offering the following two-day break packages:-

Two days by coach – from £99pp including one night’s b/b accommodation, a ticket to the exhibition, time to enjoy London and all coach travel from various pick up points in the UK.

Two days by rail – from £189pp including one night’s b/b accommodation, a ticket to the exhibition, time to enjoy London and rail travel from various UK rail stations.
