Lisbon gets into the swing for National Golf Day

2nd June 2025 By David Pike

With National Golf Day approaching on October 4, now is the perfect time for golf enthusiasts to start planning a trip to Lisbon.

Boasting over 20 golf courses across the Lisbon region, the destination offers unparalleled variety, stunning scenery and mild weather, making it the ultimate golfing getaway.

To mark National Golf Day, the Lisbon Tourism Association highlights three exceptional 9-hole courses that provide a perfect mix of challenge, beauty and accessibility:

Oeiras Golf: Just 30 minutes from Lisbon city centre, this peaceful 9-hole course is nestled in nature, offering players a tranquil environment to test their skills away from the city buzz.

Clube de Golfe do Paço do Lumiar: Only 10 minutes from downtown Lisbon, this Gary Grandstaf-designed course features seven par 3s and two par 4s. Beyond the course, it offers a driving range beneath a 250m lake and a PGA-accredited Golf Academy – perfect for all skill levels.

Golf Aldeia dos Capuchos: Located on the south bank of the River Tagus, 20 minutes from the city centre, this 1,402-metre course is suited for casual rounds, tournaments or corporate play. With breathtaking sea views, gentle slopes and strategic bunkers, it promises a memorable golfing experience.

From seasoned pros to beginners, Lisbon’s golf courses offer the ideal backdrop to celebrate National Golf Day.

For golfers looking to make the most of their visit, the Lisboa Card is a fantastic tool as it enables free travel by bus, metro, tram and funicular, plus CP train lines to Sintra and Cascais. The card also unlocks free entrance to over 50 museums, monuments and UNESCO World Heritage sites and discounts on tours, shopping and nightlife. There are 24, 48 and 72 hr options available https://www.visitlisboa.com/pt-pt/p/lisboa-card.
