French RivieraA Matisse master stroke – Opening at the Royal Academy of Art from 5 August to 15 November 2017, the sumptuous Henri Matisse exhibition ‘Matisse in the Studio’ offers a rare glimpse into the artist’s personal collection of objects from around the world with many of the exhibits originally adorning or painted in his studio in Nice.

Chapters Experience Holidays is offering the perfect six-day holiday to follow in Matisse’s footsteps in the city where he spent the last and very productive 37 years of his life.

Nice – The Jewel of the Côte d’Azur takes in the best of Nice, exploring the streets that were home to Matisse and his studio and the surrounding French Riviera – a continual source of inspiration to numerous artists including Matisse, Chagall and Picasso. With visits to the Matisse and Chagall art museums, other highlights comprise the hillside walk to the lookout on Parc du Château for wide sweeping views of the Bay of Angels and Maritime Alps, the exquisite Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild with its nine themed gardens and stunning seascape backdrop and the headland walking trail on Cap Ferrat.
