Loving Liguria for activity holidays – A new website showcases Liguria as a destination for active and outdoor lovers
Launched by the regional agency for tourism promotion In Liguria the Be Active Liguria site highlights various routes and paths to explore the Italian region either by bike or foot.
The site is the official holiday portal for adventure holidays in the region and provides information on excursions, route maps, specialised services, accommodation options, adventure associations, sports stores and tips from local guides.
Split between a hiking and cycling section, the website provides itineraries by the sea and in the mountains – as well as specific routes incorporating nature, culture, gastronomy or family-friendly offerings. The site has 200 excursions ranging from off-road mountain bike paths, high altitude trekking and gorgeous scenic walks.
Cycling in Liguria
Be Active Liguri displays 65 cycling routes and lists the region’s 42 certified bike hotels. The routes and paths are divided depending on the type of bike used by the traveller: cross country, Enduro, downhill and E-mountain bike.
Some of the most popular cycling routes include the XC Molini di Triora, a beautiful 30km trail that’s perfect for both those who want to go full bore or enjoy a relaxing ride in the countryside and the legendary DH Men, a track full of contrasts – with stunning views over the sea and savage, steep rocky sections.
The region is also home to the Alta Via dei Monti Liguri – a 422km mountain trail covering the length of the region. It is a scenic route, split up into 43 stages of between two and four hours, and is suitable for anyone with a good level of fitness.
Hiking in Liguria
Be Active Liguria also showcases 178 top hiking routes, displaying easy, medium and expert paths with insight and tips from local guides. Some of the routes include the Casa del Romano.
A brand new hike has been introduced from Riomaggiore to Madonna di Monternero, leading guests to the Montenero Sanctuary, where the path is illuminated by a number of LED lights that are triggered by people passing by.
