At last – a chance to broaden our horizons.

And those with a special interest in the past will welcome the exceptional portfolio of travel offers announced by award-winning tour operator Andante Travels.

Andante has added an exciting river itinerary to its growing cruise programme that explores the archaeology of the Rhône in France.

This nine-day cruise will be spent aboard the MS Camargue, a floating equivalent to a four-star hotel, and showcases the archaeology, culture and heritage to be found along this historic river.

Highlights include visits to the exceptional amphitheatre and archaeological museum at Arles (below left), the iconic Pont du Gard, the important site of Glanum (below right) with its famous triumphal arch and mausoleum, and a chance to explore the Palais des Papes in Avignon.

Exclusive Andante excursions throughout the tour, will be led by John Shepherd, a specialist in Roman provincial archaeology. They include a visit to the prehistoric site of Roche de Solutré, a tour of the Gallo-Roman Museum of Lyon-Fourvière and a privately organised wine-tasting in the renowned wine-producing area of Tain L’Hermitage.

Other tempting time travelling invitations from Andante Travels for 2022 include …
